The school support is a one-time allowance for all school-age children (aged 7-19) who have received international protection or temporary protection and are entering schools in Estonia for the first time. It is paid by the Estonian Refugee Council and is intended for expenses related to starting school.
To whom? School support can be applied for all school-age children (7-19 years of age) who have received international protection or temporary protection in Estonia and who started or are about to start schooling in Estonia for the first time in 2022. The child must be admitted to the school at the time of the application. The application is made on behalf of the child/children by their parent or guardian.
What amount? The one-off financial support is 50 euros per child. The support is paid only once. The support is paid to the applicant's Estonian bank account.
Why? The purpose of the support is to help children with refugee backgrounds going to school in Estonia for the first time to coverm basic school-related expenses. The allowance is paid into the bank account of the parent or guardian. The exact use of the allowance does not have to be proven, it can be spent on things related to the child's school at its own discretion.
How fast? We will review the applications and pay the support in the order in which the applications are received within 15 working days at the latest. We will contact all applicants by phone or e-mail to confirm the payment of support or, if necessary, to specify the applicant's details.
How to apply? To apply for thea one-off school support, you must fill in the attached form. In order to prove the status of international protection or temporary protection, a photograph or a scan of the document certifying the respective status must be uploaded.
Is my personal information protected? The processing of the data submitted by you will be carried out in accordance with the personal data processing rules of GDPR and Estonian Refugee Council. Your information will not be shared with other parties. Copies of the document will be stored on a secure server and only for as long as your request is reviewed.
