The situation in Ukraine is extremely critical. Russian forces are systematically attacking energy infrastructure across the country, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has declared a state of emergency in the energy sector. Power outages are frequent, and in many homes it is barely warmer than on the freezing winter streets. Temperatures remain bitterly cold, dropping to as low as –20°C in some regions.
The Estonian Refugee Council is raising funds to support evacuation centres operating under these harsh conditions in Ukraine. There are currently 21 evacuation centres across the country. They provide comprehensive assistance to people forced to flee their homes, including essential supplies, medical and psychological care, as well as legal and social support.
Due to extreme sub-zero temperatures and intensified attacks, evacuation centres are now facing constant challenges in securing heating and energy supplies. Estonian Refugee Council is collecting donations to purchase generators, fuel, and other essential supplies for transit centers in the Dnipro, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions so that work there can continue and people fleeing the war can receive the support they need at this critical moment.
Please help the people of Ukraine, who face air strikes and bitter frost every day.
